We went to this cute museum while on honeymoon. Its lovely. Their camera obscurer is pretty amazing considering its age. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. My husband enjoys museums so hence we did this and we were not disappointed.Definitely go for a visit.

Good museum with lots of interesting/educational collections. Robert the Bruce information was fascinating. Free entry too!

Great little museum. Loved the camera at the top of the tower

What a brilliant museum! So much to see and not enough time to view everything so we'll be back for a more leisurely visit. Beautiful displays of prehistoric artifacts, you can almost feel the folk who made them. Moving on time wise, really interesting finds from around the local area, Roman, bronze age etc. Some of the textiles on display so beautifully embroidered, must have taken ages to do. The farming exhibition excellent too, as I remember certain ones from when I was a child visiting the family farm and everything was used along as it was working! The sacred stones were fascinating and the details carved still clear. We didn't have time to visit the camera obscura but will do so next time we visit Dumfries. This small museum is a gem of discovery and even has a small shop. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The museum is Child friendly as well with various "trails" and charts to follow and keep them interested. Incredible staff and great access for visitors
