What a fabulous day out for my husband, dogs and myself. We visited primarily because it is dog friendly and I knew some of the more well known Burns poems. We were blown away by our guided tour, hosted by Ronnie, which is much more than we expected. Ronnie was passionate and informative and spent time to explain the significance of Ellisland in the history of Robert Burns. The kind curator even allowed us to visit areas not normally open to the public. He is well deserved of the nomination received for the wonderful welcome he shows. We were then directed to a lovely walk with our dogs to see the Hermitage and nearby Friars Carse. I just want to extend our thanks for a wonderful day out.
I happened across this wee place on my way to Dumfries one day. What a gorgeous setting, beautiful walks and a good price of history. The staff were very friendly and well informed too. Mind out for the animals in the cart barn, I thought the cat snoozing in the hay was a prop until it moved
Very interesting and knowledgeable curator. Amazing collection of items. Really looking forward to seeing the planned developments taking shape
Wonderful to visit this farm he owned and worked with his family for a few years and where he wrote some of his most famous poems.
Very interesting because I used to live near there. Staff very friendly. Video and dressing up for kids.
